Tokarev Model 1940 Semi Automatic Rifle
A multi-purpose battle rifle, the Tokarev Model 1940 could be fitted with a telescopic sight for sniper applications. SN 4P529
1940 Tokarev (U.S.S.R.) Semi-automatic Detachable Magazine Rifle (pressed metal/ repeater/ breech-loading/ smokeless powder/ cartridge ammunition) Gas-operated semi-automatic rifles were among the best arms of World War II.
Designed by V. F. Tokarev, this semi-automatic was magazine-fed from below the stock. Soviet infantry, working with tanks, used submachine guns to pin down enemy riflemen, and semi-auto rifles to finish the job. U.S. forces relied on similar tactics, while German and British forces relied more heavily on bolt-action rifles for final kills
