Curly maple w/ raised stock carving, half-octagonal/half-round barrel. "Buck and Ball" rifle circa 1800 45.5 inch barrel has been shortened approximately three inches from the rear. Gun restocked in period, possibly by C. Beck Typical four-piece Beck engraved patchbox. Butt is incised carved in the C. Beck style. Cheekpiece and sideplate are not of the J.P. Beck style. Rifle has elements of Wolfgang Hagy's work - possible aspect associated with repair/restocking.
