Theodore Roosevelt, Elegant Arms

Sponsored by Beretta USA Corporation & Benelli USA Corporation

This room is a close copy of Theodore Roosevelt's library in his Sagamore Hill retreat in New York and is typical of the trophy rooms established by many hunters. It offers a glimpse into the life of an affluent gentleman hunter, the type who took part in an African safari in the early 20th century. Learn about the origins of the "Teddy Bear," Mr. Roosevelt's connection to the NRA, the U.S. involvement in the Spanish-American War and the famous "Rough Riders."

Significant Firearms in Gallery 9:

  • Colt Single-Action Army Revolver carried up Kettle Hill and San Juan Hill by a former Richmond, Virginia clerk who joined the Rough Riders
  • Adolph Double Rifle owned by Theodore Roosevelt
  • Smith & Wesson Revolver owned by Theodore Roosevelt
  • Purdey Double Rifles & Shotguns
  • Guns of the Yacht United States
  • Parker Shotguns including the three "Invincibles"
  • Krag M1899 Carbine
