This was Heath Ledger's final completed film role in what is the seventh feature film based on the DC Comics superhero. The film was released six months after Ledger's untimely death at the age of 28. He was nominated and won a Best Supporting Actor award for his role. He was the second person in the history of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences to receive a posthumous Academy Award.
